Got Cardio? Many doctors suggest that walking is one of the best forms of exercise. Many fitness enthusiasts also encourage running. And what beats the great outdoors as the perfect setting for enjoying two of the most natural forms of exercise? Well, the elements could preclude this activity for some, safety may be another consideration and then there is the continual pounding that takes a toll on your joints when running on concrete. Or, maybe the idea of going to the gym just doesn’t appeal to you.

Purchasing a home treadmill could be a viable solution. Studies have shown that you get more out of a treadmill than any other exercise equipment. However before you “run” out to make this investment, I suggest you take a look at the guidelines listed below:

Budget: Decide on a price range and keep within the parameters that you have set. Just keep in mind that as with just about everything else, you get what you pay for. When you shop by price, select the best in that price range.

Space: The treadmill needs to fit into your space. Be sure to take measurements of the space you have allotted for the equipment. If you have limited space and need to have a treadmill that you can store, check its size when folded or stored and test how easy it is to move.

Noise Level:
How noisy is it? If you live in an apartment or condo, consider your neighbors. If you plan to watch TV or listen to music, you need to be able to hear the audio over the treadmill.

Motor: The motor gets the heaviest workout. Shop for at the very least 1.5 to 2.5 HP "continuous duty".

Warranty: Look for the longest warranty on the motor, at least one year.

Durability: If a treadmill is shaky or jerky, keep shopping. You want smooth motion. The belt must be wide and long enough for your stride. The hand rails need to be sturdy enough to support you and in a good position for your reach.

To help you out with your search, here are some models that I feel are the best on the market.

With the best treadmill, you'll be in shape in no time. We suggest the best cardio treadmill, from ProfForm, Star Trac, Landice, Sole and others, always at the best price on the Web.
