Since jeans work with everything in your closet, it’s important to have a hot pair of jeans that makes you look great and feel good. Having fit hundreds of bodies (of varying ages!) in jeans, I have some recommendations about who makes the best jeans out there. Although being fashion-forward and current is important, I advise a jean that can fit with minimal alterations and make a woman feel like a million bucks. I have a handful of denim lines that I can always count on - the ones that time after time have a 95 percent success rate in the dressing room, always fit a certain body type and make a woman look absolutely great. I call them my ‘go-to jeans’ that are truly the Best of the Best.

People come back to these brands for a reason. They are iconic. They fit most women and provide a range of styles for various body types and sizes. You may be familiar with most of these and you may be wondering why some lines didn’t make the cut. I looked at overall flattering styles where the pockets accentuated, or in some cases lifted, the butt and where the rise was sufficiently comfortable for a majority of women. The ones that last and provide superior denim and value made the cut.

Finding the best women's jeans can be a lifetime search without the right help. We suggest the most comfortable skinny jeans and other blue jeans that fit your style and your curves perfectly.

The Best You Can Get

  • Paige Premium Denim

Teresa says: A relative newcomer to premium denim, Paige Premium introduced its line of various fits and washes to the market in 2005. The company’s philosophy is all about fit and looking and feeling great no matter what your body type. Founded by former denim fit model, Paige Adams Geller, Paige Denim has found itself on the butts of many with its signature back pocket whipstitch.

Paige is a great female-friendly line with styles for tall gals, short gals, those expecting, and curvy gals up to size 16. To determine your best style, try their online fit guide.

  • Joe's Jeans

Teresa says: Started by Joe Dahan in 2001, Joe’s Jeans was one of the first lines to enter the premium denim market and they’ve been going strong ever since. They have a wide variety of styles to fit various different body types such as the Honey for curvy girls, the Rocker for straight-hipped gals, and the Provocateur for petites. Along with the Honey, the Muse is one of their most popular styles since it has a nine inch rise and comes in a variety of flattering washes.

It’s a great jean with a choice of fits for everyone. It’s always on the list for my clients to try. The denim is high quality and lasts a long time. What’s better is that Joe’s is introducing an environmentally friendly collection for Spring 2008 that utilizes organic cotton, organic washes, and recycled paper labels. The Bolan style is on my wish list.

  • AG Jeans

Teresa says: If I could sing my praises for AG jeans from the rooftops, I would. This is by far one of my favorite denim lines due to their fit and style. When I pull these for my clients, there is a 95% success rate in the dressing room. However, a couple of caveats: these jeans are made for curvy hips – if you have a straight hip, they will not suit you so move to #4 below.

AG was founded in 2000 by Yul Ku of Koos Manufacturing and Adriano Goldschmied (of Diesel legend) who has since left his namesake and founded GoldSign. Production of AG jeans is run out of Southgate, California with a team of designers bringing out fresh new styles each season. Their long-standing best-seller is the Angel but the Club has taken over lately in popularity due to its higher rise. The best thing about AG is the pockets; because of the angle, they make your butt look perky and small.

  • 7 For All Mankind

Teresa says: 7 For All Mankind Jeans is another pioneer in the premium denim market that has kept its cult status. Launched in 2000, 7 For All Mankind was the first company to truly bring premium denim to the forefront and its signature squiggle stitching on the back pocket showed up on the denim scene and on hipsters everywhere.

They create a variety of jeans styles including skirts and cords but are most known for their low-rise (averages 7 to 7.5”) and tight leg denim styles. They are the perfect jean for gals with straight hips and lean legs.

  • J Brand

Teresa says: Another relative newcomer to premium denim is J Brand which was co-founded by Jeff Rudes and Susie Crippen. J Brand pretty much started the skinny jean trend and rightfully makes some of the best out there. But what I love most about this brand is their overall design philosophy of clean and minimal design, dark washes, and great fit. In fact, their one mandate is to have no excess hardware or embellishments on their jeans.

Even though they don’t make ‘Tall’ styles, their inseam is a generous 35” which means that tall girls can finally wear heels with their denim. They recently introduced maternity to their line and I’m looking forward to seeing more great styles and fits from them.

You will be happy with any of these

  • Not Your Daughter's Jeans

Teresa says: There is a reason these jeans fly out of stores. The Tummy Tuck jean by Not Your Daughter’s Jeans reached cult status when women discovered they look one-size smaller than their regular size. The secret, their special "crisscross" front panel design and extra stretch in the rear has led to rave reviews. Launched in 2003 by Lisa Rudes-Sandel, with her sister Leslie, Tummy Tuck’s are made with four percent Lycra versus the usual two percent. The jeans come in a variety of styles and a range of fits for petites and plus-size gals alike. This female-friendly brand is definitely the best value jean in the industry.

  • Levi's

Teresa says: As the inventor of the category, Levi’s has seen its ups and downs but they will always hold iconic status as the original and authentic denim brand. They make long-lasting, quality denim at great prices. The Skinny jean has generated a lot of fans as well as the Boyfriend Fit. In 2006, Levi’s joined the organic cotton movement by re-introducing 100% organic cotton with green stitching accents (labeled ‘Eco’) to their premium lines, Red Tab, and Capital E.

  • Calvin Klein Jeans

Teresa says: Calvin Klein jeans are great for the gal that was not born yesterday. The denim is great quality and lasts quite a long time. Since the launch of the original Calvin Klein jean in 1978, Calvin Klein Jeans has been known for its great-fitting jeans and unique washes. They offer regular and petite inseams with the rise averaging at 10” – this comfortably covers everything without being the horrible ‘mommy jean.’

  • American Eagle Outfitters

Teresa says: You gotta love a jean that fits well at a fraction of the cost. American Eagle has a large range of styles that suit a variety of body types and sizes. Their Favorite jean even comes in Extra Tall so that no woman feels left out in the cold.

  • Silver Jeans

Teresa says: Not as well known as other jean lines, Silver Jeans are created and designed in Canada. They have the most comfortable and long-lasting fit which makes them a great value for the straight-hipped gal.
