The Halo series has been a staple for the Microsoft’s consoles for about a decade now. Melding Sci-Fi with a FPS has proven effortless with this series in terms of story and art design. Both the single player and multiplayer campaigns have been received with open arms from fans and critics alike, and this Xbox exclusive title has proven itself to be insanely lucrative. Various spin off games retain the spirit of the original franchise but the Xbox wouldn’t be the Xbox without Master Cheif and Halo. While some people may not be attracted to the alien weaponry and bouncy multiplayer gameplay, any newbie with a 360 owes themselves to check out Halo 3.
Halo 3: ODST
And it's here, on the streets of New Mombasa, that ODST shows its first major move away from previous Halo games. Unlike other Halo games that throw you through a series of missions in a linear fashion, ODST opens up New Mombasa for exploration. The...
Graphically, the game doesn't hold up quite as well. It's true that the models move fluidly, and they're decently enough crafted, but there is very little wow factor going on here. Aliens jump around, projectiles soar, things explode, but there's...
Halo 3: ODST
Firefight is truly awesome. They have obviously looked at the success of Horde found in Gears of War 2 and the inclusion of Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: World at War and thought 'Wow. We must get something similar in our Halo series, somehow'....
Keeping the same basic engine as Halo 3, ODST will feel and play as expected for any fan of the series. Some minor things have changed however as you can't duel wield your weapons, and the grenade throwing mechanism seems to have changed a little, as I...
Halo 3
For three years, Xbox gamers the world over have been waiting. The end of Halo 2 was a cliffhanger of epic proportions. As the Master Chief's final words echoed on televisions across America, so did player's screams of indignation upon the realization...
Halo 3 Review
TVG finally finishes the fight - a zero-hype, no nonsense take on what Microsoft no doubt believes is the biggest game of 2007...
The fight might well be finished but like the end to any war, Halo 3 isn't pretty. One of the top multiplayer experiences available on any console (as expected) redeems a largely disappointing Campaign, but even that doesn't change the fact that the...
Halo 3: ODST
Pros: Firefight is outstanding / + hours of gaming; More Halo (albeit minus Master Chief); New maps and Halo: Reach BETA code
Cons: No matchmaking in FireFight; Campaign is on the short side; Too dark at times throughout campaign
Halo 3 Review
Pros: A wholly compelling multiplayer experience ; Four-player co-op Campaign ; Finally - Halo on Earth (largely)
Cons: A disappointing Campaign ; Visuals that let down the flagship Xbox franchise ; Unfounded reason for Bungie's pretentiousness
Halo 3 Standard Edition (NTSC)
Pros: Multiplayer, 1-4 Co-op, Interface, Sound
Cons: Checkpoint save slow down, short campaign
